The Foundation does not charge an administration fee to administer these funds. This means that each donation or contribution is disbursed dollar-for-dollar for the purpose of the fund. Through the years, there has been several such events, such as the Floods of Hurricane Floyd, major storm flood damage in the State of Texas, wildfire damage in California, El Salvador disaster assistance and the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The Foundation has also worked with the National Credit Union Foundation, the North Carolina Department of Insurance, North Carolina League of Municipalities and several credit unions in reaching those in need during times of disaster. Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated the Gulf coast area of Louisiana and Mississippi in late 2005. The Foundation, through the generous donations of the many credit unions of North and South Carolina, as well as their credit union employees/volunteers and their members, contributed better than $128,000 that was distributed to credit union employees in Louisiana that were most affected by these storms. Better than $1,020,201 has been awarded in Community Aid Grants at year-end 2006. If you would like to contribute to the disaster fund, please forward your check to:
